Paint your own enchanting Neverbird
Wendy's favourite bird is the Neverbird. They are colourful, majestic creatures that you often see flying high over lagoons and are only found in the world of Neverland. Use your imagination to make your own Neverland with Wendy using your fingertips!
What you'll need:
-
Finger paints (non-toxic, safe for skin)
-
1 paper plate
-
1 large piece of paper or canvas
-
Glue
-
Paintbrush
-
Feathers
-
Glitter
-
Sequins (optional)
-
Googly eyes (optional)
Cover the table
-
Ask a grown-up to help you cover the table with a newspaper or old tablecloth so we keep everything tidy like Wendy does.
-
Put your piece of paper or canvas on the table and pour your coloured paint into different parts of the paper plate.
Get ready to paint
-
Pick your favourite colour and press your hand into the paint.
-
Make two circles using your hand for the Neverbird's body and head.
-
Pick another colour and press your hand into the paint, keeping your hand open.
-
Press your hand on the middle of the Neverbird's body to make a wing.
-
Paint two white circles with tiny black dots in the middle, using your fingertips or ask a grown-up to help you to stick googly eyes on with the glue for the eyes.
-
Use the side of your fingers and yellow or orange paint to make a small beak and feet.
-
Wait 5 minutes for the paint to dry - think of what decorations you want your Neverbird to have!
-
Now to add the glitter and feathers. Ask a grown-up to help you use the paintbrush to put glue on the Neverbird's wings and body.
-
Press your feathers into the wings and sprinkle glitter over the body of the Neverbird. Add other decorations like sequins using the glue.
-
Ask a grown-up to gently shake the piece of paper or canvas upside down to take away any leftover glitter.
-
Let everything dry for 10-20 minutes and then you show your special Neverbird to all your friends!
Wendy's top tips:
-
Ask a grown-up to help you carefully cut your Neverbird out with scissors.
-
What else might you find in the forests or lagoons of Neverland? Use your imagination and think what other magical creatures you can create.
